Doctors 2.0 & You Supports Patient Travel To Paris And Invites Its Network To Participate, 6-7 June 2013, Paris
Doctors 2.0™ & You, the patient-inclusive international conference, devoted to the improvement of healthcare outcomes thanks to social media and mobile apps, have announced the launch of its first crowdfunding campaign. The campaign to subsidize patient travel is targeting US$10000 (7750 euros) on the MedStart’r web platform. These monies will support travel and or lodging for 10 to 20 patient scholars depending on distance.
According to Doctors 2.0 & You founder, Denise Silber, president of Basil Strategies, “We are excited about the launch of our first crowd-funding campaign to bring patients to Paris. We know what a positive impact their presence will have for them and everyone present. And since travel funding is an issue, we’re happy to try a new approach with MedStart’r.”
2012 ePatient speaker at Doctors 2.0 & You, Sarah Kucharski notes that “crowdfunding travel expenses so that patients may attend conferences like Doctors 2.0 & You is a creative and effective way to ensure that the patient voice is included. It is an antiquated idea to hold a conference about patient care without patients! Doctors 2.0 & You crowdfunding campaign will ensure even great representation at the 2013 conference and patients will look to other organizers to follow suit.”
Chief Patient Advisor 2013 Michael Seres from the UK concurs. “No one knows better than patients what is needed they just don’t get asked very often. Doctors 2.0 & You changes all of that. By attending, patients get a seat at the table and can be at the heart of the digital healthcare revolution!”.
Conference organizers are also pleased to announce that WorldOne Interactive + Sermo has signed on for the first time as Gold Sponsor and LexisNexis is returning as a Gold Sponsor. Each of these organizations will make available original information and research.
