Freight train: Myo1c provides cellular transport for protein crucial to kidney filtration

The motor protein Myo1c uses the actin cytoskeleton as a ‘track’ to transport Neph1, a protein crucial for maintaining kidney filtration and key to the injury/recovery response in the kidney.

The Structural Model of the Myo1c-Neph1 Complex
The structural model shows the complex of Myo1c (magenta) with the Neph1-cytoplasmic domain (red). The three calmodulins bound to IQ domains of Myo1c are shown in green, blue, and cyan.
